Directions to Algood, TN

  1. Highway 90 toward New Orleans
  2. I-310 North toward airport
  3. I-10 East toward New Orleans
  4. At the I-10/I-610 split, take the 610 toward Slidell
  5. Stay on I-610 and it will eventually merge back with regular I-10
  6. Cross Lake Pontchartrain
  7. After passing Slidell, take I-59 North.  YOU WILL STAY ON I-59 NORTH FOR MOST OF THE REST OF THE TRIP!!!!  IT WILL TAKE YOU ALL THE WAY TO TENNESSEE NEAR CHATTANOOGA!  On I-59, you will pass through Hattiesburg, Meridian, Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and Gadsden, AL.  Also, for a few minutes, you'll pass through Georgia.
  8. Once in TN, I-59 will end.  You will then take I-24 West toward Nashville
  9. Near the Murfreesboro exits, you will see an exit for highway 840.  You need to take 840 toward Murfreesboro/Lebanon/Knoxville.  I’m not sure what combination of the three cities listed is on the sign, but at least ONE of them is!  Just go that way.  Once on Highway 840, you will stay on it for about 23 miles.
  10. Highway 840 will end eventually.  You have an option to go either East or West on I-40.  You want I-40 East toward Knoxville.  Once on I-40 East, you will go for about 60-80 miles. 
  11. You are looking for EXIT 288 (the HWY111 exit).  There will also be an Algood sign (that is the little (I mean LITTLE!) town I live in.  Don’t be bothered by the fact that you, while on I-40, are passing up two or three Cookeville signs.
  12. After taking EXIT 288, you will turn left onto Highway 111 NORTH. 
  13. Continue on 111N and after about four exits, you will see an Algood exit sign.  Take that exit (I’m not sure what exit number that is). You should see a McDonald’s at the intersection. 
  14. Take a left and go under HWY 111 (the road you were just on).
  15. Immediately after you pass under the bridges, there is a road called Chocolate Drive on your RIGHT.  Turn RIGHT onto Chocolate Drive.  *****NOTE:  DON’T CONFUSE THE OFF RAMP OF Hwy111SOUTH WITH CHOCOLATE DRIVE!!!  CHOCOLATE DRIVE IS RIGHT PAST THE OFF RAMP!*****  See the picture below for a zoom in on this part of your trip.
  16. Once on Chocolate Drive, continue for about one mile.  You will see the chocolate factory on your left.  You will get to a T intersection and you will have to take either a left or a right.  Take a RIGHT.
  17. About seventy-five yards later, you will see Algood Manor Apartments on your right.  That is where I live; take a right into the apartment complex.
  18. I am apartment I-5.  It is on the left.  I’m about 2/3 the way into the complex.  Just look for the building with the big red Ford F-150 outside of it.  That is mine.  I’m in that building on the top floor facing the parking lot.
